Rocky Top Raceway releases 2010 schedule

COAL GROVE, OH-The Rocky Top Raceway is proud to release the much anticipated 2010 schedule. The 2010 schedule will have 19 races featuring a minimum of 8 different types of racing classes, making it the most diverse schedule in RTR history. Along with plenty of specials for the Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, Bombers, and Mod Lites, the 410 Sprint Cars, Enduro cars, 4 cylinders, and Flat Track Motorcycles will take to RTR in 2010.
“We‘re really happy with what we‘ve been able to do with the 2010 schedule”, stated RTR promoter T. J. Layne. “Whether it’s a special event race, a new class, a new twist to the racing program, or a special promotion, we are offering something special to the fans each night in 2010. We’re also hoping to make some announcements soon about some new things that have never been done before to get the fans really involved in the racing program each night.”
Several special event races will highlight the 2010 schedule. The biggest race of the season will take play on Friday, May 7th with an appearance by the Battle of the Bluegrass Late Model Series for the “Rocky Top 50” paying $5,000 to win. This race will be one of the marquee events on the Battle of the Bluegrass Series 2010 schedule. Another big race will be the “GCP Engines Showdown” on Friday, June 18th. This race is the make-up date from last fall’s “Fall Classic” and will feature a special event for each class. The purse for the Late Models has been increased to $4,000 to win while the AMRA Modifieds will pay $2,000 to win, Bombers $1,000 to win, and Mod Lites $500 to win.
The 2010 schedule also features many first time events. The 410 Sprint Cars will race for $3,000 to win on Saturday, May 29th in their first special at the track. 2010 will also see RTR’s first Enduro race in the “Rocky Top 100” on June 4th and the first ever appearance of the Flat Track Motorcycles. The Flat Track Motorcycles will run four exhibition races throughout the season with everything culminating on Saturday, August 21st in the “Southern Ohio Flat Track Championships”. More information on that event will be released later.
The 2010 racing season will get underway on Saturday, April 10th with the annual Test N Tune Day. Opening Night will be on Friday, April 16th with a full program of Late Models-$1,200 to win, AMRA Modifieds-$650 to win, Bombers-$350 to win, and Mod Lites-$300 to win (with 15+).
