By: T. J. Layne
SOUTH POINT, OHIO-"Racin" Jason Perry and the Perry Racing Team got their 2007 season underway by competing in the Rocky Top Raceway "Season Opener" on Friday, April 20th and then racing in the NARA Battle of Bluegrass Modified Series "Spring Shootout" season opening race at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY on Saturday, April 21st.
The night started out good for Jason at RTR as he finished second in the nights second heat race to give him the fourth place starting position for the nights 20 lap feature event. In the feature, Jason immediately jumped to the third position and drove a great race to remain there the rest of the race, coming home with a third place finish. The finish was a great way to start the season for Jason in his #20 Tomahawk by picking up a podium finish.
The following night "Racin" Jason and the Perry Racing Team made the trip down to the Richmond Raceway for the Battle of Bluegrass Modified Series season opener. With several BoB events on the Perry racing schedule, Jason was looking to get a good finish to start things off right in the points. To start off the nights action, Jason finished seventh in the third heat race, three spots short of the transfer position. However, crew chief "Bomber" Ed Perry made changes to the car as Jason moved his way all the way up to the second position, battling for the lead, in the nights second B-Main with the top three going to the $1,500 to win feature event. While still running second without power steering, Jason had to pull off the track with a busted radiator, a dissappointing end to what was a great run.
This weekend "Racin" Jason plans on going back to the Rocky Top Raceway on Friday, April 27th to try to put the familiar #20 into victory lane for the first time at the track. Being third in points, Jason will also look to take over the points lead. Saturday nights plans are still undecided. For more information on this event visit www.rockytopraceway.net
“Racin” Jason Perry and the Perry Racing Team would also like to thank all of their 2007 season sponsors which include #1 Graley Autobody, the “Tri-States #1 Rock Station” 106.3 WAMX, Hallmark Motor Company, CB&H Auto, Tomahawk Race Cars, Speedzone Graphics, Stanley Haddix Performance Parts, Enchanting Essence Candles by Ashley Perry, Perry's Speed Shop, Lemley Racing Engines, Lavalette Cycle and ATV, QueenofthePits, 5Foot Monster Team and Race Apparel, and T.
