Buckeye Nationals-This event featured a 40 lap, $4,000 to win Late Model show, a 30 lap, $1,000 to win Mod Lite show, and a regular show for the Bombers. The car count was 18 Late Models, 33 Mod Lites, and 9 Bombers.
The Late Model feature saw an absolutely incredible race between Wayne Chinn and Eddie Carrier Jr. The two battled side by side for the lead on the final turn with Carrier slamming the guardrail and Chinn winning the race. The feature had a total of 3 lead changes.
The Mod Lite feature saw two lead changes between Alan Knepper and Tim White. Knepper went on to take the exciting $1,000 win. The Bomber feature saw a last lap pass by Jeremie Bretz over Wayne Hughes. Video of event is found at www.rockytopraceway.net/video. Video by Jody Shannon.
GCP Engines Twin 30's-This race featured a 30 lap, $2,000 to win Late Model feature, a 30 lap, $1,000 to win Modified feature, and a regular show for the Bombers and Mod Lites. The car count was 15 Late Models, 30 Modifieds, 13 Bombers, and 7 Mod Lites.
The Late Model feature saw a great race between Rick Combs and Jackie Boggs. Combs appeared destined for victory before suffering a flat tire on lap 6. Boggs went on to win. The race had 1 lead change. The Modified feature saw a total of 5 lead changes (all in the first 15 laps) between Shawn Holliday and Joey Back. Holliday would go on to win the race.
David Dunn led all 15 laps in the Bomber feature to take the win and Chris Stone led all 15 laps in the Mod Lite feature to take the win.
Coal Grove Pharmacy Fan Appreciation Night-This race featured a $1,000 to win Modified show, a $500 to win Bomber show, and a regular show for Late Models and Mod Lites. The car count was 11 Late Models, 26 Modifieds, 9 Bombers, and 10 Mod Lites.
In the Late Model feature, Jackie Boggs and Rick Combs had an incredible race with Boggs passing Combs coming to the white flag to take the win. The race had 2 lead changes between the two. Rick Hensley led all 20 laps to take the $1,000 Modified feature win. The Bomber race was perhaps one of the wildest ever seen at RTR with Josh Stamm taking the win in a race that saw 3 different leaders. Chris Stone led all 15 laps of the Mod Lite feature to take the win.
Les Boggs Open Wheel Shootout-This race saw the first ever appearance of the 410 Sprint Cars at RTR. In addition to the 410 Sprints, Mod Lites ran for $1,000 to win and Modifieds ran for a regular show. The car count was 17 410 Sprints, 17 Mod Lites, and 10 Modifieds.
The 410 Sprint feature saw an incredible race between Cole Duncan and Chris Andrews. Andrews passed Duncan coming to the white flag with an incredbile, daring pass to take the feature win. Andrews and Duncan swapped the lead twice in the 30 lap feature. Rod Jones led all 30 laps to take the Mod Lite feature win, but had Tim White and Tracy Fritter close behind all race.
The Modified feature was perhaps the most exciting Modified race ever seen in RTR history. Eddie Harmon, Dave Kelley, and Todd Robinson battled 3 wide in turns 1 and 2 on the final lap with Robinson going from third to first to take the lead in one turn! Robinson hung on to take the win while Harmon and Kelley made contact battling side by side in turn three.
3rd Annual Engines Inc. 50-This race featured a $5,000 to win Late Model show along with regular shows for the other three classes. The car count was 28 Late Models, 20 Modifieds, 19 Bombers, and 12 Mod Lites.
Eddie Carrier Jr. dominated the 50 lap Late Model feature to take the big win. Eddie Harmon, Jason Perry, and Rick Hensley had an incredible battle in the Modified feature with Perry taking the feature win. The Bomber feature saw a great race between Jamie Adams and Lee Neil with Neil taking the win. The Mod Lite feature saw Chris Stone make a last corner pass on a slowing Aaron Pendleton to take the win.
Summer Sizzler-This event featured a 35 lap, $3,000 to win Late Model show along with regular shows for the other three classes. The car count was 22 Late Models, 14 Modifieds, 10 Bombers, and 6 Mod Lites.
The 35 lap Late Model feature had an incredible battle for the lead all race long between Kenny Christy, Jackie Boggs, and Eddie Carrier Jr. Christy held on to take the feature win. Eddie Harmon led all 20 laps of the Modified feature to take the win while David Dunn led all 15 laps of the Bomber feature to take the win and Chris Stone led all 15 laps of the Mod Lite feature to win.
