Eddie Carrier Jr. at the Buckeye Nationals-In one turn, Carrier went from battling for the win to taking a hard hit against the guardrail and having a severly damaged race car. Carrier was able to finish the race in the fifth position however. Payout difference between 1st and 5th? $3,200. Payout difference between 2nd and 5th? $1,200.
Rick Combs flat tire at GCP Engines 30-Rick Combs was flat out flying around RTR on May 15th. Combs opened up a huge lead over Jackie Boggs and looked destined for victory. However, Combs cut down a tire on lap seven as that ended his night in a heartbreaking turn of events.
Chris Stone flips while leading-Chris Stone was destined for victory on Opening Night. Stone had a big lead, but hooked a rut with only 4 laps to go and took a wild flip. Stone was ok, but was done for the night.
Eddie Harmon wins race, but looses championship-On August 7th, four Modified drivers were still mathematically eligible to win the track championship. Eddie Harmon went out and won the dash race and took the lead in the feature. For the majority of the race, Harmon had the track championship as his closest competitor Todd Robinson ran outside of the position he needed to clinch. Harmon led the entire race and ended up winning, but two cars running in front of Robinson suffered mechanical problems in the final five laps, allowing Robinson to win the championship by 10 points.
Jason Perry flat tire on August 14th-Jason Perry took the lead on lap four of the Modified feature and opened up a big lead. Perry seemed destined for victory until mechanical problems struck on lap ten, forcing Perry to pull off the track.
Dave Kelley on August 14th-Dave Kelley had battled side by side for the lead all race long with Eddie Harmon. On the final lap, Robinson went on the highside and got around both Kelley and Harmon to take the lead. Harmon and Kelley battled side by side for second into turn three with the two making contact. Kelley ended up spinning and finished sixth.
Cole Duncan on August 14th-17 year old Cole Duncan took the lead in the 410 Sprint Car feature on lap 3. Duncan appeared destined for victory until a caution flag flew with two laps to go. On the restart, second place runner Chris Andrews made an impressive pass to take the lead to go on and win the race. Duncan led 26 of the races 30 laps. The bright side was Duncan was still able to have a very strong second place finish.
