My "Ol Buddy" and I rarely miss a race at RTR and PRP. Other than Brett Carey and Danny #36 T-Bird, you rarely see the same drivers at the two tracks. We are continually surprised at the LOW car count in bomber ranks, especially when their is a big purse to be offered. Bomber rules at the two tracks appear to be about the same, but, the cars don't. It's fairly obvious that one track is pretty lenient in it's interpretation of said rules. Everybody currently racing in this class obviously already has their car built and a lot of money invested.
Solution: Tracks and drivers agree upon a common set of rules and specs to be implemented in 2010. Grandfather in the current cars for the next 2 seasons, giving everyone the opportunity to wear out or crash out the car they are now running. If you build a new car in the mean time, build it for the new rules. I posted earlier that my son and I would like to go racing. We are negotiating with a sponsor who would like to see their name at these two favorite tracks, and also, at KC, Beckley, P-burg area and any and all of the local area tracks. If we were racing a SLM, Semi-Late or Modified, their wouldn't be much concern. But with Bombers, Street Stocks or Hobby Stocks, who can meet all the different rules at all the different tracks and still be competitive, if they are allowed to compete at all?

I fill that you have made a good sugestion aferalcat as long as the tech men would enforce all the rules to every driver an the rules be to were a racer on a small budget can compete compeditavely so both sides have a chance people without an also people with money to spend on racecars.

I just want to say that I think this is a great thread. 3 pages of replies and over 1,000 views. I've enjoyed reading it.

You enjoy reading the threads but you are not willing to enforce the rules. I get tired of hearing that all cars are legal. You are not being honest with yourself or the drivers when you say this. You are going to be minus 2 more cars this season due to turning your back to this matter. And what is up with allowing some bomber drivers to park out to the left and not others. Guys, it gets crowded in the area to the right on the back stretch. If there is room out to the left, let anyone park back there. What is the big deal. This just doesn't make sense. I get tired of being treated like the low man on the totem pole. We pay the same as the next guy, don't treat us differently. This is going to be the downfall of the bomber division. Open your eyes and look at the other tracks closing down. They can say what they want about the reasons for closing. If you don't treat everyone equally, you are going to have problems. Until someone with enough respect for these drivers and who is not afraid to enforce rules steps up and makes some changes, then you won't get the car count up. You will lose drivers.

Feralcat...I agree EVERY track has to have rules and EVERY track needs to enforce them. I would LOVE to see a more uniform set of rules for the entire region. I think you will see a growth in the numbers of people building bombers instead of them declining. But first....baby steps. Let's concentrate on the enforcement of the current, publicly posted rules. When people see that they are not wasting their time building a "legal" car, only to field it in a class where anything goes, more people WILL get involved. From that, the class is going to grow...guaranteed. If not, we will continue to see the numbers we have seen.
As far as the "Grandfathered in" idea. These cars, which vary from the existing written rules have no reason to be grandfathered in. These guys had the same list of rules I did when they built them, and they knew they did not conform to those rules when they built them. Some would even call them "illegal". Why should a guy who cheated be allowed to continue cheating for two years? If that is the plan...then I'll see you all in two years.

i would like the rules for all the area tracks be the same no matter what tracks rules they follow, if rtr is going to run these rules fine just make sure the "tech man" is doing his job and not letting 10" tires go or 4 barrell carburators, i dont know for sure about the carbs because not everybody was teched last year, but i do know they let a couple cars go with 10"wheels and tires, the "tech man" knows who they are

I am pretty good friends with this "tech man" and we have personally spoke about this situation for a very long time and i know for a fact now that he looks at every car and does not/will not allow 10 inch tires or a 4-barrell carb. he has sent several cars back home...only thing he admitted to letting slide on the rules is only if what is in question he will allow if he truly feels it is there for safety purposes only to make the car safer for the driver(s). and i'll just about put money on it that he'll be checking alot close this coming year...

yeah i know the tech man pretty well also john hunt but there is a thing the tech man should stop the top 3 cars on the track after the race and tech all 3 cars at the same time not just the 1st place car we got teched every time we won last year and i am not nameing no names but there were cars that won several races before we got our car done and started winning that didnt get teched they would go get there picture taken and drive right off the track and load and not even get teched thats not right tech one winner tech all the top 3 spots should be checked every week so there can be no favortism shown to any driver

yes, i agree with that. top 3 pulloff as usual straight to a dedicated area to get teched and if they dont they should be dq'd right then and there. if the 1st place car is fine, send 'em back out to get his picture taken.
